PHILLIP BULLOCK GETS THE TOP E.T. MONEY AT ROCKINGHAM
Derek Harris, Brittany Dial Also Win Titles in Track’s Annual Racers Appreciation Event

ROCKINGHAM – Phillip Bullock, who drove his 1966 Chevy Nova to a Top ET victory in last fall’s Super Chevy Show, scored again Sunday at Rockingham Dragway where he beat William Collins of Vass to win the annual Racers Appreciation Race.

Bullock, who overcame a perfect .000 reaction time by his rival to win by a mere .003 of a second, picked up $2,000 for the victory. He shared center stage with Derek Harris of Greensboro, who prevailed in Footbrake at the wheel of his black 1970 Monza, and Brittany Dial of Maxton, the winner in Jr. Dragster.

A field of 297 took advantage of the free entry aspect of the event that officially opened the 2016 season at The Rock. Among those in the Top ET field were former Jr. Dragster drivers Tucker Creech of Clayton and Kristy Messer of Four Oaks. Messer advanced to the round of six and Creech to the seventh round with two different entries.

While Sunday’s race came off without a hitch, the same wasn’t true on Saturday when racing was suspended due to an extremely lengthy track cleanup that followed a catastrophic mechanical failure in the fourth round. The racers still in contention opted to split the Saturday prize money and focus on the Sunday show.

The Rockingham Dragway focus shifts this week to two-wheelers with the first race of the season in the original Superbike Shootout Series featuring Pro ET, Street ET, Outlaw Street and three index classes. Pro qualifying on Saturday; eliminations Sunday.
