AT THE ROCK BBQ COOK OFF GUIDELINES and ENTRY FORM
Join us on Saturday, August 18 for a family fun day of show off
your great BBQ Pork or Chicken, enjoy a Blue Grass Band and
compete in a Corn Hole Tournament.
We are looking for the best BBQ in the Sandhills! You and two of
your associate cooks will compete for unique GRILL THOPHYS and
bragging rights in a top 5 People's Choice competition and the top
3 judged competition, separate awards for Pork and Chicken.
This is a non-sanctioned event and is open to both rookie and
experienced BBQ teams.
WHEN: Saturday, August 18
TIME: 1pm – 8pm
SET UP: 7am or later – Teams can set up Friday at 4pm
Two categories -- Pork or Chicken -- top five each in People's
Choice plus top 3 judged for each. Every paid admission will be
given two "people's choice" tickets, one for pork, one for
chicken. The public will vote for their favorite by dropping their
ticket in a box located at each contestants table. Tickets will be
counted at completion by Smoke at The Rock officials
No food or drinks may be sold by the contestants. Only BBQ samples
may be given out to the public in return for a tasting ticket.
Judges will be chosen by Smoke at The Rock. Contestant must
present their entry at 3pm in a box provided.
No pets are allowed in the cook off area.
People's Choice Trophies for the top five pork, top five chicken.
Trophies awarded to the three judged. The top three winners
"judged" will receive free entry in the 2019 Smoke at The Rock
competition to defend their title.
Each team shall supply all of their meat, cooking ingredients,
individual cooking devices (portable stoves, wood, charcoal,
grills, etc.) and utensils. Smoke at The Rock will provide a 20 x
20 area to set up your tables and an umbrella, more space if you
Teams will be allowed access to set up on Friday, August 17 at 4pm
and as early as 7am on Saturday, August 18.
Parking will be provided in a designated location. The cooking
area is for equipment only; no vehicles will be allowed in the

the responsibility of the cooking teams to keep their area clean
and assist in garbage disposal
