GIRARDI, MILLER, NAVARRO WIN IN FBR SHOP AUTUMN NATIONALS
Green Among Record Setters in MIROCK Superbike Series Event
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Barry Greene pushed the L&W Motorworks “Black Widow” Suzuki to a world record quarter mile time of 7.110 seconds at 193.63 miles per hour, but the Hinesville, Ga., rider wasn’t able to transform that performance into a FBR Shop Autumn Nationals victory Sunday at Rockingham Dragway.

The No. 1 qualifier in the featured Outlaw Pro Street category and the quickest in
every round of competition, Green fouled away his chances in the final round against MiRock Superbike Series points leader Tony Girardi of Hollywood, Fla., wasting a 7.191 second, 189.87 mile per hour effort.

Earlier, Green ended the day for Lewisville’s Angie McBride with a second round victory secured with the second quickest time of the event (7.161 seconds).

Other winners in the next-to-last race in the MiRock Series included Jason Miller of Mechanicsville, Md., in the 60-Inch Sport Bike class; Anthony Navarro of Royersford, Pa., who became only the third different season winner in the Heavyweights class; George Scurlock of Pittsboro, N.C., in the 5.60 Heads Up class; and Alan Fields of Climax, N.C., and Ronnie Procopio of Waldorf, Md., who split the Nitrous Express Pro ET titles.

The final event in the eight-race series co-hosted by Rockingham Dragway and Maryland International Raceway will be the Lee’s Fall Bike Nationals, Nov. 19-20, at Rockingham.

Miller, who won for the second time this year, also set a record by pushing his Suzuki through the quarter mile in 7.709 seconds on a first round bye run.  Like Green, Miller was the No. 1 qualifier in the class and was quickest in every round.  Unlike Green, though, he closed the deal by beating points leader and reigning series champion Mike Slowe on Bensalem, Pa., in the final.

Navarro got his first win of the season thanks in large measure to runner-up Gerald Cox of Smithfield, N.C., who took out runaway points leader and No. 1 qualifier John Kulcycki of Phoenixville, Pa., in the semifinals.  That win was no fluke, however, as Cox posted quick time of the entire race on the run at 7.982 seconds.

Fields claimed a $500 bonus from Nitrous Express for earning the most points over the two days of racing Pro ET.
