Rain washed out
the Outlaw 10.5
final in the
Fall Civil Wars
as well as the
semifinals and
finals in True
10.5, 275 Drag
Radial and King
of the Street
and the later
rounds in
Footbrake and
Real Street. As
a result, Lynch
and Gordon split
the $5,000 top
prize and
runner-up money
in the featured
class.
Drivers not yet
eliminated in
all the other
classes also
split the purse.
Among the
champions
crowned in the
two-day event

assured. In fact,
the Woodstock, Ga.,
driver was surprised
in qualifying by
Gordon, who grabbed
the No. 1 starting
position on speed
after both he and
Lynch recorded
identical eighth
mile times of 4.269
seconds.
The two were on a
collision course
before weather
interceded. Gordon,
from Bedford, Va.,
actually had earned
the choice of lanes
for the final round
after coaxing his
2004 Ford Mustang to
a winning semifinal
time of 4.298
seconds, slightly
quicker than the
4.333 rung up by
Lynch’s 2010
Corvette.
