FORMER
SERIES CHAMPIONS START STRONG IN TORCO COALITION SERIES

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Winston-Salem’s Thomas Plott, the 2004 series champion, used a near perfect .001 reaction time to turn back Kip Mattox of Piedmont, S.C., in Sunday’s Top Eliminator final and win a $5,000 share of the purse in the season-opening race in the 2006 TORCO Carolina Coalition Series at Rockingham Dragway.

Plott shared the opening event spotlight with Allen Byrd of Kingsport, Tenn., whose Saturday victory over Rodney Revis of Honea Path, S.C., also was worth $5,000.
Other winners in the two-day event including Steve Alford of Angier, N.C., the 2004 Footbrake Champion and Derek Harris of McLeansville, N.C. Trailers of the East Coast Jr. Dragster winners were Dylan Stott of Columbus, N.C., and Susan Knight of Lancaster, S.C.
The TORCO Carolina Coalition is an eight race series hosted by Rockingham Dragway, Piedmont Dragway, Mooresville Dragway and Farmington Motor Sports Park. The most successful drivers in Top Eliminator, Footbrake and Jr. Dragster will divided a bonus fund of $27,000, $10,000 of which will go to the Top Eliminator champ.
Next race in the series will be April 8-9 at Farmington. After that, the series will move to Piedmont on May 20-21 and then to Mooresville on June 3-4. The series will return to each track in the second half with the final race at Rockingham on Nov. 18-19.
