WILLIFORD GOES WIRE-TO-WIRE
AS OUTLAW PRO WINNER AT ROCKINGHAM

ROCKINGHAM, N.C.
– After lowering the Outlaw Pro Street series
record to 6.999 seconds in qualifying,
Rougemont’s Rodney Williford was quickest in
every round of competition Sunday en route to a
MiRock Superbike Series victory in Rockingham
Dragway’s annual Summer Sizzler. |

Despite his performance dominance, which paved to
way to his second straight win at The Rock and
moved him into second place in series points,
Williford almost let it slip away in the final
round where his 7.103 second quarter mile time was
just enough to deny Ralph Medrano Jr. his second
straight MiRock victory.
Medrano, who won last month at Maryland
International Raceway, which co-hosts the
eight-race MiRock Series, was slightly quicker in
reacting to the starting signal (.027-.038 of a
second) but his 7.116 came up just .002 of a
second shy at the finish.
Other Sunday winners included Jason Miller of
Mechanicsville, Md., an upset winner over points
leader Anthony Navarro in the Pro Sport Bike
final; Robin Procopio of Wake Forest, who won in
the 5.60 Pro Comp class; Shawn Proctor of Waldorf,
Md., in Pro ET; and Clay Davies of Petersburg,
Va., in Street ET.
Williford’s victory set up a three-way battle for
the championship between himself, McBride and
reigning champion and current points leader Tony
Girardi of Hollywood, Fla., in the season’s final
three races, two at MIR followed by the
finale at Rockingham.
Williford put up the event’s quickest competitive
time at 7.027 seconds in the first round. He
ran 7.052 in the second round and 7.098 to
take out McBride in the semifinals. McBride,
a previous Outlaw Pro winner at both
Rockingham and MIR, took out Girardi in a key
second round match, 7.184 to 7.194.
