BILLINGS, VAN HOOSE AND GLASSCOCK WIN McBRAYER MOPAR EVENT
ROCKINGHAM - Randy Billings of Ft. Pierce, Fla., dominated the Extreme Street
class Saturday at Rockingham Dragway, qualifying with the quickest elapsed time of the event and setting the quickest time during eliminations. Greg Van Hoose of Ravenswood, W. Va., won in Muscle Street and Laura Glasscock of Keysville, Va., took top honors in the Super Pro class. The event was the 16th Annual McBrayer Chrysler Mopars at The Rock.

Billings set low time of the event along with top speed in the
first qualifying session, 80124 seconds, at 173.12 miles per hour.  Driving
a 500 cubic inch Plymouth Valiant, Billings set low time of eliminations at
8.233, 171.97 in the semi final round.  In the finals he defeated number two
qualifier Wayne Smith, Port St. Lucie, Fla., 1989 Dodge, with a time of
8.590, 150.25 to Smiths 8.960, 154.42 losing effort.  Chip Owens of Marion,
S.C., was the semi finalist.

Van Hoose, driving a Plymouth Roadrunner, won the Pro Max Muscle
Car class over Tom Moran of Charlotte in the finals.  Van Hoose turned the
quarter mile in 10.157 seconds, 133.80 m.p.h. to Moran's 10.976, 123.95, in
his Plymouth Swinger. Phillip Grover of Alpine, N.Y. was the semi finalist
in his 1969 Plymouth.

Glasscock drove her Mopar powered dragster to victory in the
final round when her opponent, Franky Gunter of Pelion, S.C., fouled, or
red-lighted in his Plymouth Duster. Scott Macy of Randleman and John Knapp
or Smithfield, Va., were the semi finalists.

The Sportsman class was won by Bill Ritts of Danbury, driving at
Dodge Dart.  Macy, the semi finalist in the Super Pro class, was the runner
up when he red-lighted, or fouled, away his chance of winning.  Art Laselle
of Fayetteville and Joe Lewis of Elizabethtown were the semi finalist.

Trophy Street was again won for the third time in four years by
James Lowe of Colfax in his Dodge Coronet.  Lowe was the Trophy  Street
winner in 2006 and in 2004.

The Young Gun Shootout  was won by Kevin Locklear of Sanford
over Corey Robinson of  Castle Hayne, while Delano Santos of Gastonia won
the Viper Shootout over Randy Jensen of  Jamestown.  The Dakota R\T class
was won by Stephanie Hendley of Wilmington.

In addition to the on-track action, more than 120 Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth and
Jeep show cars were judged by Port City Mopars, plus the Jet Dragster of Dick Rosberg made two 280 m.p.h. exhibition ruins.
