Although Teasley
was the No. 1
qualifier
astride his ZX14
Kawasaki and
even though he
lowered the
national record
for the class to
an astounding
7.764 seconds in
a first round in
which he was
unopposed, the
turbo Suzuki of
Dobrin that
stepped up
thereafter and
the Sarasota,
Fla., pro laid
down a 7.765 in
the final to win
for the fifth
straight time.
Not that Teasley
made it easy. In
fact, the
Columbus, Ohio,
rider, who won
the July Schnitz
Summer Sizzler
at The Rock,
forged a big
lead at the
start with an
.055 reaction
time only to
have the turbo
run him down.
Nevertheless,
the margin at
the finish line
was closer than
the performance
numbers might
suggest just
.018 of a
second.
Two other
reigning MIRock
champions also
won on Sunday
Ronald Procopio
of Wake Forest
in Mickey
Thompson Pro
Modified and
Rodney Williford
of Rougemont in
Orient Express
Pro Street. It
was the third
season victory
for both,
enabling
Procopio to
extend his lead
and Williford to
close the gap on
points leader
Joey Gladstone
of Townsend,
Del., whom he
defeated in the
Pro Street
final.
Stephen Moye of
Bowie, Md., won

Speed Crazy 8s
division, Matt
Davies of
