Lee’s bid for a
double-up victory
was denied by a
narrow .005 of a
second margin
Saturday before
unexpected rain
forced the
cancellation of the
final day of racing
in the Original
Super Bike Shootout
Series at Rockingham
Dragway.
Lee, a regular
Rockingham bike
racer from
Morristown, Tenn.,
stopped Pfafftown’s
Daniel Joyce in the
final round to win
Saturday’s featured
5.60 index title but
Michael Herman of
Woodbridge, Va.,
denied his bid for a
second title in the
final round of Pro
ET.
Herman ran 9.141 on
a 9.130 target in
the final round
while Lee recorded
an 8.691 on an 8.680
target. The
difference was all
at the starting line
where Herman had a
.005 advantage (.045
to .050).
The other Saturday
winner was Darrell
Mahoney of Pomfret,
Va., who forced
fellow Virginian
Mike Schulz into a
final round breakout
foul in Street ET.
Rainchecks will be
honored at either of
two Super Bike
Shootout Series
events contested
next year at The
Rock. Dates of those
events are pending
with announcement of
a 2016 schedule
expected in
December.
