TOP FUEL BIKES READY FOR 28TH ALL-HARLEY WORLD FINALS
World Champs Tharpe, Turner, Vancil Among Contenders in Ray Price Challenge
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – (Oct. 8, 2019) Straddling a hybrid Top Fuel Harley-Davidson motorcycle capable of accelerating from zero to 235 miles per hour in little more than six seconds is not for the faint of heart.

That’s why those who have the job don’t even climb aboard until AFTER the crew has fired the engine and made sure the volatile nitromethane fuel load is at least marginally stable.

For adrenaline junkies, it’s the ultimate rush. For so many others, it is the flame that draws them to Rockingham Dragway each October for the Jim McClure Memorial All-Harley World Finals featuring the Ray Price Top Fuel Challenge.

Contested this week (Oct. 11-13) for the 28th time, this year’s race will crown champions astride Harley-Davidsons of every shape, size and description, but it is the Top Fuel bikes that invariably incite the crowd.

Honoring two of the legends of Harley-Davidson Top Fuel racing, the Memorial not only features Top Fuel riders who regularly compete in the American Motorcycle Racing Association series, but also those who just finished the NHRA Harley Davidson Top Fuel tour.

Among the latter are two-time and reigning NHRA champion Tii Tharpe of East Bend, two-time NHRA and two-time IHRA champion Jay Turner of Julian and two-time IHRA champ Doug Vancil of Cedar Crest, N.M., the defending champion aboard the Vance and Hines factory bike.
